Introduction to the Communication and Literacy Skills Reading and Writing Test
The MTEL exam is required of all persons seeking Massachusetts licensure. The two-part test consists of the Communication and Literacy Skills test and the Subject-Matter test. This online course is designed to meet the needs of any student who is preparing for the Communication and Literacy Skills (Field 01) portion of the MTEL.
Students are challenged by tests in reading and writing. The objectives for both reading and writing subtests were established by subject area specialists using a process that included extensive literature review, interviews with public school teachers, a large-scale survey of teachers, and pilot tests.
This program is designed around the content objectives of the Communication and Literacy Skills (Field 01). The instruction sections and sample tests directly relate to the information provided by the official MTEL Web site, www.mtel.nesinc.com. Although this course is complete in terms of test preparation, there is an obvious need for prior completion of college course work upon which the MTEL depends.
