Identify and Edit Errors in the Standard Use of Pronouns

A major problem for selecting the correct pronoun is found in sentences containing compound subjects or objects. A technique for correcting errors of this type involves writing separate sentences for each subject/object. This technique is shown below.

Example Sentence: John and me are going to the movies.

First write the following two sentences:

John is going to the movies.

Me are going to the movies.

The second sentence needs to be changed to:

I am going to the movies.

Therefore, a correct sentence for the original idea is:

John and I are going to the movies.
