Empowering Student Success: Introducing the Strategic Learning Assessment

Longsdale Publishing is pleased to announce the development of the Strategic Learning Assessment, a new instrument designed to support student learning and success in higher education. Grounded in the latest research on effective learning strategies, this self-assessment tool is designed to provide students with actionable insights into their learning strengths and areas for growth, empowering them to become more efficient, self-directed, and successful learners. The assessment is being developed with cost-effectiveness in mind, making it an accessible resource for institutions and programs of all sizes.

The Strategic Learning Assessment encompasses 11 key dimensions of student learning and development, including communication, critical thinking, effective learning, focus and concentration, growth mindset, persistence, seeking help, sense of belonging, stress management, test preparation, and time management. Students complete a self-administered questionnaire, and receive a personalized Profile Report highlighting their strengths and areas for growth, accompanied by actionable recommendations for improvement. Instructors and advisors gain valuable insights through an Administrative Dashboard providing aggregated data and reports.

Currently, the assessment items are undergoing rigorous review by a panel of experts in higher education to ensure the validity and effectiveness of the underlying constructs. Their feedback and guidance will be instrumental in refining the assessment for the upcoming pilot study.
